About

I have always been a storyteller, and photographs are my primary means for doing so. A passion for documenting the lives and trials of people as well as an unwavering empathy for the underdog originally drew me to photojournalism.  I want to tell the interesting stories about the everyday lives of the people in my community that go largely unheard in an ever more fast-paced world. In all of my work I seek to capture a single image of a moment and scene which tells an entire story, all with elegant composition and refined lighting.

This sentiment extends to my wedding and event photography, done in a photojournalistic fashion to provide candid and real photographs of the event that capture its spirit and heart.

I currently work as an intern photojournalist at the Chattanooga Times Free-Press in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and previously held an internship with the Advocate-Messenger in Danville, Kentucky.  My photographs have been nationally distributed with the Associated Press and I am a contributing photographer to the international photo agency Corbis Images.  My photographs have been published with the New York Times Bitz blog, American Profile Magazine, American Radio Works, Outcomes Magazine, Foreign Policy Magazine, The Week, and a number of other publications. I have received awards from the National Press Photographer’s Association and the Kentucky News Photographer’s Association, and I was featured for my work as an intern on www.SportsShooter.com.

If you would like to book me to shoot an assignment or to request to license a stock photograph, I can be reached through the contact information below, or the “Contact” link on this page. I am available for assignment anywhere.
